Cabarrus Sibshops is a support program for kids 3rd thru 9th grades who have a brother or sister with special needs. Sibshops give kids an opportunity to meet with peers to discuss their joys and concerns of having a brother or sister with a disability. Sibs participate in games and team building activities, crafts, food, and Letters to "Aunt Blabby" (a time to brainstorm solutions for common concerns). Most of all, Sibshops are fun!
Cabarrus Sibshops Partners are: The Arc of Cabarrus County, FSN of Southern Piedmont, Speedway Children’s Charities, Sue Rebich (Instructor with UNC-Charlotte), Donna Badami (Physical Educator) and volunteers from UNC-Charlotte The Sibling Support Project is a national effort dedicated to the life-long concerns of brothers and sisters of people who have special health, developmental, or mental health concerns. |
